  1. This updater updates Claris Emailer Lite 1.0v2 to Claris Emailer Lite 1.0v3.

  3. The updater can be used on your current copy of Claris Emailer Lite 1.0v2. It updates either the Macintosh 68k version, PowerMac version, or FAT version to the equivalent 1.0v3 version.

  5. After the update, your original copy of Claris Emailer Lite1.0v2 is moved to the Trash.

  18. Thank you for choosing Claris Emailer Lite™. This Read Me file documents some additional tips that may prove helpful when using Claris Emailer Lite 1.0v3, including changes for users of previous versions of the program.

  26. I.    NEW FEATURES IN CLARIS EMAILER LITE 1.0v3

  28. Claris Emailer Lite 1.0v3 has four new features added since 1.0v2.

  30. - Connect Again
  31. - More Information During a Connection
  32. - Show the Location of Enclosures
  33. - Drag and Drop Text Files into Messages

  35. Connect Again
  36.  
  37. The Connect Again feature immediately connects using the previous Connect Now settings. This is quicker than Connect Now since the Connect Now dialog box is not displayed.

  39. The Connect Now menu item is the last menu item in the Mail menu. It uses command-option-K as a keyboard equivalent.

  41. More Information During a Connection

  43. The Connection Status window now displays more information about the current connection. This information includes:

  45. - The subject of the current message.
  46. - An estimate of the current data throughput.
  47. - Notice if there was no mail waiting.

  49. Show the Location of Enclosures
  50.  
  51. You can now show the location of an enclosure in the Finder. Simply hold down the option key while you double-click the enclosure.

  53. Drag and Drop Text Files into Messages
  54.  
  55. If you have Drag & Drop installed on your Macintosh, you can drag a text file to the body of an outgoing message. This inserts the text of the file into the message.

  63. • There is a mailing list dedicated to Claris Emailer. Mailing lists provide a place for people with similar interests to communicate with each other. The Claris Emailer mailing list is called Emailer-Talk.

  69. The subject can be anything. In the body of the message, put one line with the phrase:

  73. Because of the volume of mail that you might receive via the mailing list, you may want to set up a Mail Action to manage the mail. A possible Mail Action would be the following which would move the Emailer-Talk messages into the Filing Cabinet.

  78. Note that the Emailer-Talk mailing list is run by an independent organization and is not in any way associated with Claris or Apple Computer.

  80. III.    CHANGES AND FIXES IN 1.0v3

  82. The following section lists changes and fixes that were made in 1.0v3.

  84. • Domain names are now cached for Open Transport connections.
  85. • Added support for Open Transport on 68K Macintosh.
  86. • Leading spaces in incoming subjects are stripped.
  87. • Creating new folders in the Filing Cabinet no longer gives an error message.
  88. • The Type field on outgoing messages can no longer be blank.
  89. • Toggling arrows in a new mail window no longer marks a message as changed.
  90. • Clicking the recipient or enclosure tab no longer marks a message as changed.
  91. • Meta-characters are now stripped out of Window menu listings of Filing Cabinet windows.
  92. • Enhanced error reporting format for unknown errors in the connection logs.
  93. • Now recovers better from addressing errors in Internet connections.
  94. • Errors for invalid local recipients for Internet messages are now reported.
  95. • When sending hundreds of messages at once, no longer reports “too many files open.”
  96. • Header “titles” are now in bold in the newly renamed Show Original Headers dialog.
  97. • The filename variable in content-disposition headers of Internet messages are now handled properly.
  98. • Outgoing quoted-printable messages with enclosures are now handled better.
  99. • Now writes a date header for outgoing Internet messages.
  100. • Dragging an enclosure to the Finder Desktop now positions the file correctly.
